Military, Veterans,
& Military-connected family
Military-connected family members:
Oregon servicemen and women are being deployed leaving their family, spouses, partners, friends, and children (military-connected civilians) home to go on with "life as usual". Each day is spent trying not to worry and to stay positive.
Deployments comes with so many stressors that often military-connected civilians experience stress in the form of physical ailments and unbearable emotion.
There are so many added pressures like being a single parent, having a life without the service person, and dealing with those around you that aren’t living with worry everyday and don’t understand why you don’t just “get over it” or “move on”. The lack of understanding from society in general is a whole other source of stress!
I get it. I’m here to listen.

After their return home the expectation is that everything is fine now. Rarely does it go so smoothly. Just fitting the disjointed puzzle pieces back together is a stressor that sometimes requires some assistance from someone who gets it.
Veterans:
You served your country and spent many months or years away from your family and the comforts of home. And now you're home. Things are not going the way you hoped they would go the entire time you were away. All the counting down is over but things just aren't what you expected. Maybe you want to talk to someone? You made the transition between life over there and life back at home, between an unfathomable environment there and flipping your switch to see and hear about our 1st world problems back here. Perhaps that transition isn't going so well. Your experiences changed you.
You could be feeling the loss of the greatest brotherhood you've ever had and wish you could do it all again. Do you have anyone to talk to? Do you have a community or support system in your life now?
I won't ask you to come divulge all your experiences, I don't ask you those dreaded "civilian questions" that you've heard a million times, I won't claim to understand, I won't tell you that your experiences aren't really your experiences, I'm not the VA. I'm here to help and I'd like to meet you.
